Cynthia Nicole Lail Car Accident: Fatal Hickory Car Crash Killed Cynthia Nicole Lail And Her 12-year-old son

According to N.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Christopher Casey, Cynthia Nicole Lail, a 38-year-old Hickory resident, and her 12-year-old son tragically perished in a terrible car accident involving a Hickory Police Department patrol vehicle.

The son was identified as Michael Lail through a GoFundMe page initiated by a family member.

The harrowing incident unfolded on Friday evening at the junction of U.S. Highway 70 and 13th Street SW in Hickory, marking a tragic end to Cynthia Lail’s life at the scene.

Michael Lail succumbed to his injuries at Atrium Health Wake Forest Brenner Children’s Hospital on Sunday, according to Casey.

The officer at the wheel of the Hickory Police Department’s 2020 Ford Explorer during the collision was identified as 24-year-old Atia Mohamed Shamseldin.

Accompanying Shamseldin in the front seat of the patrol car was Matthew Lee Wendell, 21, described as an applicant to the Hickory police force, Casey disclosed.
